Medical Malpractice
A Medical Practitioner owes his patients a reasonable degree of medical skills, care and behavior so malpractice can be conveniently divided into two broad types :
- Medical negligence
- Professional misconduct
Examples of professional misconduct include :
- Practicing fraudulently
- Being habitually drunk, being dependent on or a habitual user of narcotics or other drugs with similar effects.
- Immoral conduct in the practice of the profession.
- Permitting or aiding an unlicensed person to perform activities without a license
- Refusing a client or patient's service because of creed, color or national origin.
- Practicing beyond the scope of the practice permitted by law.
- Being convicted of a crime or being the subject of disciplinary action in another jurisdiction
